THE DEATH EOIX. Mrs. Esther F. Grandma Marsh 3s dead- The end came at 30 oclock this morning, when she passed quietly into me hereafter like one falling into a deep sleep. Yesterday morning at 5 oclock a stroke of paralysis deprlyed her of speech and almost all motion. It is doubtful if she ever regained consciousness afteT the attack, and certainly she was not able to speak. Her health had been comparatively good, save daring an attack of grip, last spring, and notwithstanding a noticeable general weakness the past two months no danger was anticipated by her family. Mrs. Marsh was 90 years old Aug. 2 last. She and her husband, me late Darias March, were early settlers In tbe town of Marcellon. He was a veteran of me war of 1812, haying served as Gen- Jacksons bugler, and his us ucu. widow at the time of her death drew a pension on that account. Mr. Marsh died in 1870. Soon afterward Mrs. Marsh moved to PorUge and has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. A. Crouch.. The late Geo. S. Marsh of Portage was a son or the deceased and another son, Andrew, who became prominent as me Inventor of a new system of stenography, Sied years ago in California. Wm. Marsh, also a son, resides in me state of New York. AH her sons were soldiers Andrew a veteran of the Mexican war and George and Wm. of the rebellion. Her son-in-law, Mr. Crouch, died at Nashville while serving his country, faithfully daring the last war. Mrs. Maty E. Calhoun of Nevada, Iowa, Is the only daughter other than Mrs. Crouch. There are numerous grandchildren. Mrs. Marsh had many friends and me endearing title "Grandma could hardly be mure worthily bestowed. A long life and a good life is finished; may tbe rest be sweet and peaceful. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church, Monday at 10 a. m. The remains will be Interred at me Fuller cemetery In Marcellon beside her husbands grave. |
