    • Military Funeral Held For Major C. G. Stevenson Barial of Spanish War and World War Veteran Set for Today in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, N. Y. Funeral services for Major Charles G. Stevenson of 1316 85th who died Friday night at the Norwegian Hospital, were held yesterday afternoon at St. Philip's P. E. Church, 11th Ave. and 80th St. The Rev. Alfred W. Price, rector, officiated. Company of the 14th Infantry N. Y. N. which is commanded by Capt. Charles G. Stevenson escorted the body from the home to the church. Brooklyn Post of the American Legion and Brooklyn Camp, 22, of the United Spanish War Veterans, of which Major Stevenson was a member, con ducted memorial services at his home on Monday night. Major Stevenson will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy. Ma, Ogden J. Ross, 105th Infantry, N. Y. N. has arranged for a bugler and firing squad to render a last salute. The burial service will be conducted by the rector of St. Paul's Church, Troy, where Major Stevenson's father and mother were married on Dec. 17, 1862. Major Stevenson suffered a stroke of paralysis on Monday of last week in his office. He lapsed into unconsciousness on Monday and continued so to the end. He is survived by his widow, Beatrice V. Stevenson; a son, Capt. Charles G. Stevenson Jr. of the 14th Infantry, N. Y. N. and a daughter, Cornelia B. Baker, and four grand? children, Daniel and Beatrice Baker and Geraldine and John H. Stevenson. Maior Stevenson, who was born in New York City on Jan. 30, 1868, was graduated from Columbia Grammar School in 1886 and at tended Columbia University for two years. He also atienaea uoiumoia Law School, but completed his law studies in the office of Wilson H. Powell. He was admitted to the bar June 26, 1891. Shortly after his admission to the bar he became connected with Lawyers Title and Guaranty Company and later with the United States Title Guar anty Company. When tlie latter company was absorbed by the New York Title and Mortgage uompany he was solicitor in charge of the Brooklyn office. He resigned from that position in 1929 and has since been in practice for himself at 32 Court this borough. Major Stevenson was a veteran or the Spanish-American and World Wars. Before the Spanish war he was a member of the Naval Re serve before it was organized into the First Naval Battalion. At the outbreak of the Spanish War he re ceived permission from the Colonel of the 47th Regiment oi tne New York National Guard to organize a company and with the assistance of his brother, Sgt. Robert Stevenson, and Henry A. F. Young, he recruited and enlisted Company M. He was raised to captain and placed in command of the unit, seeing service in Ponce, San Juan, Porto Rico and Caguas. He volunteered at the outbreak of the World War and was commissioned a major in infantry, serving in the St. Die defensive sector and in the Meuse-Argonne offensive.
